The |scapula| (shoulder blade) is a triangular bone which forms the rear (posterior) part of each shoulder (pectoral) girdle. Extending from the second to the eighth |rib|, each |scapula| forms a joint with the distal end of the |clavicle| (collarbone) and with the |humerus|. The |scapula| is also attached to the |ribs| by ~tendons~ and muscles which allow freedom of movement of the upper arms about the |shoulder joints|.
